Who We Are

Umoja wa Kiislam wa Elimu, Uchumi na Maendeleo (UKUEM) — The Islamic Association for Education, Economic and Social Development — was founded by 43 pioneer members in 2002 and has grown to over 367 members across Zanzibar. Operating across three thematic areas (Education, Economic Development, and Social Welfare), UKUEM works to improve the living standards of all people of Zanzibar through community-led Islamic values-driven programmes.
